Jaffa Gate

Jaffa Gate

Jerusalem, Israel

The old city of Jerusalem has always been enclosed by walls. These walls show up in maps over a thousand years old. With time these have been destroyed and rebuilt. The current wall has been around for almost 500 years and has been restored many times. This gate, Jaffa Gate, looks west to the port of Jaffa and was punched through as a hole to the Christian quarter almost 150 years ago
